Unwind and enjoy all that Maine has to offer in this cozy, traditional cedar log cabin. Nestled in the trees and set back from the road, the cabin offers an upper loft accessible by ladder, a finished lower level with a second living room, and a covered front porch that's a relaxing dream. Skiing is 20 minutes to Mt. Abram and 30 minutes to Sunday River.
The space
- Exposed spruce tie beams, white cedar trim and cathedral ceilings. A true Ward Cedar Home.
- Fully stocked kitchen and cozy dining area, with a spacious living area alongside.
- Take the ladder to the loft for two twin beds; the master bedroom is on the first floor.
- The lower level is a separate private area with a third bedroom, laundry and a half bath. Good for two families travelling together, or in-laws who want their own space.
- A short walk to the top of the hill opens up views of Mount Washington to the west and the Appalachians to the north-west.
Guest access
The entire place is yours, with plenty of parking in the driveway. The large front yard suits horseshoes, volleyball, badminton and whiffle ball; in warmer months a volleyball net is up with rackets provided. There is a fire pit with chairs, and a picnic table and grill around the back.
The area
- One hour from Portland Jetport (PWM); two and a half hours from Boston Logan.
- Lake Pennesseewassee public boat launch and beach is four minutes away, with boat rentals just down the road.
- Minutes from Long Lake, Crystal Lake, Bear Lake and Keoka Lake.
- Eight minutes from Wolf and Harp, a popular area wedding venue.
- Oxford County Fair (early September) is a ten-minute drive; the Fryeburg Fair is thirty.
Activities
- Skiing: Mt. Abram under 30 min, Lost Valley 30 min, Pleasant Mountain 30 min, Sunday River 40 min, Black Mountain 1 hr, Titcomb 1 hr 15, Sugarloaf 2 hrs.
- Hiking: Robert's Farm Reserve (32 miles of groomed trails) is ten minutes away; also Noyes Mountain Preserve, Singepole Mountain, the Norway Rail Trail and Ordway Grove.
- Snowmobiling and ATV riding across Maine's 14,000 miles of trail. The driveway fits a truck and trailer, but note the road is narrow dirt, so backing out can be tricky.
- Oxford Raceway 15 min, Oxford Casino 20 min, North Conway just under an hour, Mount Washington an hour and a half.
